01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Standing along Asakusa's Nishi-Sando Shopping Street, Meijiya immediately catches the eye with its blue cheese-infused Wagyu menchi-katsu. Affectionately called "Otona Minchi" (adult mince cutlet), this signature specialty features a crisp, hearty breadcrumb crust that encloses the juicy savor of coarsely minced Wagyu laced with the distinct sharpness and salinity of blue cheese. Biting in fresh from the fryer unleashes hot juices and pungent cheese aromas, turning a handheld snack into a rich, deeply satisfying treat.
Beyond cheese-filled creations, the counter also offers plain minced cutlets that put the straightforward flavor of the beef front and center. Skewered or portioned in small bite-sized balls, they make convenient bites to share while exploring the neighborhood. For something sweet, there are playful desserts that balance hot crunch and cool sweetness, such as fried ice cream where hot fried batter wraps around cool ice cream, as well as ice cream croquettes.
While ordering for takeout to eat on the go is easy, an eat-in space on the 2F provides a calm spot to sit down. You can pair freshly fried treats with beer, highballs adjusted to your preferred strength, lemon sour, or mulled wine in colder months. The entire premises are non-smoking, and payments are accepted in cash only, so it is wise to keep coins and bills on hand.
